Grammar
Books:
I like to introduce new topics with picture books. I think picture books help introduce intimidating objectives in non-threatening ways. The following are some grammar books that I think children would enjoy.
The Following are some book written by Ruth Heller that would be great introductory books:

This is a really great text set. I like the idea of teaching grammar through literature. Grammar can become such a skill and drill concept but these texts would be fun and informative. Some of these resources remind me of School House Rock. Do teachers still show those in class? I can remember some of the songs and I always thought they were funny and helpful.
ReplyDeleteTina, great text set! I think using picture books at any age is a great way to teach hard or boring skills. I also think that the Lucy Calkin's program we are using for Writer's Workshop leaves out some of these skills. I think you could definitely use this text set with your kids in writing. Great job!
